Melissa:Adoption has always been something on my mind, especially after our pregnancy loss.We discussed our thoughts and views on adoption from the very beginning of our relationship and has always been something we wanted.
Josh:From early on in our relationship the desire for adoption was something we talked about. After our pregnancy loss we knew even more that it was something we wanted to pursue.
We had been married a little over a year when we found out we were pregnant and were beyond excited.A few days before our first prenatal appointment Melissa was diagnosed with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy and underwent emergency surgery. It was a very scary time for us but only made our relationship stronger. Our loss further cemented our desires to adopt and we began researching different avenues of adoption. Our dear friend, who is adopted, helped to answer so many questions for us and was an amazing shoulder to lean on.
What Brought You Together?
We met at a local emergency room where Melissa works as a registered nurse and Josh is a paramedic for a local fire department. We dated for almost 2 years when Josh proposed to Melissa in her favorite city, New Orleans. We were married six months later in a small intimate wedding surrounded by our closest friends and family. We just celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary.
Why Adopt Now?
We were driving home this past April from visiting Melissa’s dad when we began to really talk about our desires to grow our family through adoption. We both were able to discuss our fears, our joys and everything else. The following day we actively began pursuing our dream of adoption.
Melissa has been a Registered Nurse for 14 years and have been working in our local emergency room for the last 8.5 years. Josh has been a paramedic for the last 8 years at our local fire department.
We enjoy spending time with our families and anything outdoors. We absolutely love to travel and can’t wait to have a little one to travel with. We have 3 dogs that are spoiled and unique in their own little ways. We enjoy any time spent with our families and friends. Whether it be crawfish boils in the spring, camping trips in the summer or bonfires in the fall we love to be surrounded by our friends and families.

Funding Update and Prayer Request!
We recently held a garage sale to benefit our adoption and we raised $2100! Thanks to everyone who showed their support—we really can’t thank you all enough.
We would love your continued prayers as we have been hopeful in saying yes to many cases, but have unfortunately been getting no’s back from expectant parents.
However, we know God has a plan and we are trying not to be discouraged.
Again, thank you all! We don’t know what we would do without y’all.
