Since Adam and I got together we’ve always had it on our hearts to adopt, but the path our story has taken is very different than what we originally planned. We’ve always talked about international adoption, but over the last year it became very clear that God was calling us to adopt domestically. To us, adoption is about providing a loving, caring, God-centered home to a child, and having a positive relationship with our birth mother. Adoption can involve challenges, high financial cost, and even hurt and pain, but we believe that life is about putting our YES on the table and seeing what God has planned for our lives.
Our family has always been very supportive of adoption. Even though neither one of us has any close adopted relatives, Adam’s brother and sister-in-law are also walking this adoption journey. Seeing how excited and supportive our family has been of their process allows Adam and I to feel comfortable starting the journey ourselves.
We first discussed beginning the adoption process last summer, because we thought it would take us a few years to be matched and we wanted to be able to adopt a child that would be a similar age to the rest of our children. Last year, however, it became very evident to us that God was leading us to adopt domestically, rather than internationally, and we met our adoption counselor Casey. After a lot of prayer and discussing the process with Casey, Adam and I couldn’t help but feel called to welcome another child to our family and adopt in 2016.
Our community has always really loved on us and our children. They provide guidance, and wisdom to us, along with a safe and fun environment for our children to be a part of. We know that our community is eager to love on our adopted child; they have rallied around Adam and I, and really supported us as we walk this journey towards adoption. Our friends are always excited to hear about the process and eager for updates, and it makes us so happy to know that they are praying for us and just as excited as we are to add this new little addition to our family.
Adoption can involve challenges, high financial cost, and even hurt and pain, but we believe that life is about putting our YES on the table and seeing what God has planned for our lives.
April
April is a stay-at-home mom, and grew up in Ontario, Canada. Her father is a builder, and because of that she is probably one of the few people that actually enjoys moving and getting to settle into new homes! She loves to cook all sorts of different food, refinish furniture, and sew. On the side, she works as an essential oil distributor and really enjoys educating people about the various uses of essential oils. April’s favorite season is summer, and she loves to travel and experience the world. She’s been to over 32 different countries, including a year she spent in Europe as an au pair. As her kids get older, April hopes to share the world with them through travel.
Adam
Adam grew up in rural Pennsylvania and he loves to be outdoors. His favorite activities involve any kind of sport -baseball, soccer, and golf are among his favorite. His favorite season is fall, and he loves to spend his vacation time with his extended family up at the lake. He works as an insurance broker, along with a large part of his family, and loves that he gets to work alongside them. He also spends a portion of his time mentoring others in their Christian walk, through a men’s discipleship group, small group, and Sunday school class.
Lincoln
Lincoln is 3 years old and is all boy. He loves to build and design things. His favorite things to play with are trucks, cars, airplanes, rocket ships, fire trucks, tractors and diggers. He loves to help mommy and enjoys cooking with her (well, in any case, he loves eating what she’s cooking!) He also really likes music. Everything is a drum, trumpet, or guitar, and he loves to dance around the house. He’s also a big fan of wrestling and being chased around the house. He’s super good with his sister and is always willing to help her out and give her toys. He also loves to be up at the lake, whether it’s playing at the water’s edge from sun up to sundown or riding in the boat around the lake.
Quinn
Quinn is a year and a half and is our little chatty cathy. She’s loves to talk and tell us what she wants. Her favorite toys are balls, whether it’s shooting baskets with the help of daddy or kicking a ball. She also really likes babies and stuffed animals, and you will often find her carrying one around the house and at bedtime, they all have to be with her. Quinn loves animals, and often spends her visits to grandma and grandpa’s chasing their dog Meeka around the house. She loves to cuddle and will always curl up in your lap to read a book. She loves companionship, and being around those she’s comfortable with. She’s also a huge foodie (despite her many many allergies) and will eat foods that most kids won’t even touch.
