The first time we saw Jayson in an online photo posted by an adoption advocate in our community, we both felt drawn to the 6 year old drawing a stick figure of himself along with a mommy and daddy. At that moment, we knew in our hearts this child was a missing piece to our family. We discussed the possibility of taking the next step with Jayson and although it was financially intimidating, decided to jump in feet first trusting God to take care of the rest.
Jayson was found abandoned when he was 4 years old on a street in China. He was taken to an orphanage and soon placed in a foster home. Neglect and abuse was suspected at his foster home and he was removed from that foster home upon those findings. He was immediately placed in a second foster home with open sores, too small clothes, wearing no underwear, dirty and traumatized. He has a cataract in his right eye, past trauma and possible cognitive delays. His current foster home has been a healthy, loving and safe place for our son, however he asks constantly when a Mommy and Daddy will come for him. We are praying American doctors can repair or improve his vision impairment and that trained professionals, as well as finally being part of a family will help heal some of the trauma his little heart has been through.
